CTC 2020: League Match

CTC 2020 tournament: FCC into semi finals. Brilliant performance by our boys!

Game report: FCC vs Taiwan Dragons 11/22/2020 CTC 2020

FCC won the toss and elected to bat first. Rahul started off with first ball four over point and got our next ball hitting a full toss straight to mid on fielder. Omesh joined Sandeep and both started to build a good partnership. Sandeep took on Marlan in second over of the innings and hit him for two sixes and a four for an eighteen run over. Omesh followed with three boundaries in next over both the batsman kept putting the bad ball away with Sandeep really using the short leg side boundaries for left handers to his advantage. Sandeep fell for 36 well made runs which included 4 sixes and 2 fours in eighth over. Arun came 2nd down but fell in the same over without troubling the scorers and score was 74/3 at the end of 8 overs. Nitish came in next and Omesh departed soon after with the first ball of the tenth over for a well made 34 with 8 fours in that innings. Score at this point was 93/4 in 9.1 overs. AD joined the crease and started hitting the opposition all over the park with Nitish sensibly rotating the strike and both the batsmen running hard between the wickets to convert singles to twos. The next 5 overs went for 61 runs with 25 coming off the 12th. Both AD and Nitish fell in last over trying to finish off the innings in style and had a partnership of 65 runs in 31 balls. AD scored 44 in 21 balls with 3 sixes and 4 fours, Nitish scored 21 in 17 with 2 fours. FCC finished their innings at 162/6 in their 15 overs.

Dragons needed to score more than 10.86 runs an over to win this one. They came blazing and their openers put the FCC bowlers to cleaners for first 4 overs scoring 54 runs and well above the required rate. AD came to bowl the fifth over and two wickets on the first two balls but Dragons still got 12 off this over. Dragons got to their 100 in 7.3 overs with only two wickets down and well ahead of the RRR. FCC team was confident that they only needed one more wicket and mainly of Jeshwant who had scored his 50 in 25 balls. Here is when the momentum started turning towards FCC in the 9 over as Aron only gave away 6 runs (4 byes) and Jyotish followed by giving 6 in the 10 but got the priced wicket of Jeshwant with Pintu holding on to a well judged catch running in at long off. Arun finished his allotted 3 overs for only 19 runs and Jyotish for only 25 runs and two wickets. 24 of these runs were scored in four sixes and he essentially bowled 13 dot balls in his 18 balls. The required rate had jumped back up to over 11 runs an over with 34 needed in last 3. AD came back strong to pick two more wickets in the 13th over and another 2 wickets in the 15th finishing with 6 wickets. Sadique also bowled a good penultimate over and only gave away 4 overs. FCC won the game by 21 runs.

AD was adjudged man of match with a great all round effort of 44 runs from 21 balls while batting, picking up 6 wickets in 3 overs for 19 runs and also holding on to one catch.

Notable performances:

Batting: AD 44 (21), Sandeep 36(23), Omesh 34(26), Nitish 21(17)

Bowling: AD 3-0-19-6, Jyotish: 3-0-25-2

Fielding: FCC held on to every catch in the innings and new keeper Srini is the one to watch as he did an excellent job behind the stumps.

Match highlights:

TCA won the toss and chose to bat first.

First few overs TCA openers played well, adding to this FCC players dropped couple of catches of Vivek Hegde. Spinners Sadique, AD controlled the score very well along with medium pace bowler Arun in their first spell. However they couldn’t control last few overs which made TCA to score 168/6 in 20 overs.

In return FCC started slowly but lost 3 wickets very soon. FCC’s score after 4 overs was 13/3. Later on Arun and Rahul took responsibility to help the team to win the final. Arun got out in 13th over when score was 76. Rahul and Nitish tried their best to reach the goal. Even though Rahul was suffering from cramp he did not give up till the end. We did play well and did not give up till the end. FCC scored 148/8 in 20 overs.

We keep pushing ourselves and get better and better. Cheers to all FCC players!!!Go FCC!!!!
